I had a beautiful time in Guthrie last weekend for the SWAK Knit Out retreat. Thank you to everyone who came and talked and knitted and talked some more.
I ended up with a few treasures and cast on for EZ’s Very Warm Hat (pictured below) after messing around with too many false starts in blah colorways (read diarrhea brown here or what was i thinking, but it was on sale brown ).
Why I am knitting with Christmas red and white in the middle of May I do not know. It may be due to the fact that Kidsilk Haze in Marmalade and Jo Sharp’s Silk Road Aran Tweed in Posie held together creates a lucious fabric. And then again I may just enjoy channeling December snow drifts in 90 degree weather.
I am adding colorwork around the lower half of the hat using EZ’s charts in The Opinionated Knitter. I loved the fact that this hat was reversible so I am knitting two different patterns for the outer shell and the lining, you know for the days you are feeling bright red and the days you are more soft white than red. For the lining I am using a creamy Marr Haven white and the Ramboillet wool is so soft.

Now I know what all the raving is about. Nightengale is beautiful!!!
I’m always tempted to cast on for winter projects when the temperature warms up. What’s up with that? I love summer!
The new color looks beautiful!
Hi Amy! I am so bummed that I am so out of touch with the knitbloggy world that I missed the Magnolia Society. Gorgeous stuff! Next time!
When I was in elementary school and junior high, I lived in Oklahoma and Keely Stuever was one of my neighbors. I always enjoy hearing about what she is up to, even though she probably wouldn’t remember me from Adam!
