These stunning pink to purple gradient sets of Knit Blockers help support the Knitted Knockers organization. $2 from every purchase goes directly to their cause. This amazing organization provides knitted breast prosthesis for free (yes, free!) to any individual who has undergone mastectomies, lumpectomies, radiation, and/or reconstruction surgery.
Barbara Demorest, the founder of Knitted Knockers, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011 and underwent a mastectomy. Barbara’s doctor felt traditional breast prosthetics weren’t the best decision for her so soon after her surgery. So her friend, Phyllis, knit her a “knitted knocker” and it changed her life.
“When I received my lovely gift of a knitted knocker it changed everything for me,” Barbara said. “It was soft, light, beautiful, could be worn in a regular bra and best of all was made by someone who cared. I knew immediately that I wanted to help other women receive this gift of comfort and dignity. I wanted to be a ‘Phyllis’ to those that didn’t have a knitter or crocheter in their life.”
Since its inception in 2011, Knitted Knockers has given out over 200,000 knockers.
